An angel in front of each of my doors

I once heard a story, a true story. I’m not sure I remember the details right but it is an amazing story about God’s power and love for us. A Christian Chinese woman was living in her small house up in the mountains I think. The fact that she was a Christian was not well looked upon, so the men in her town decided to go up to her house one night and kill her. (As I recall). She was scared and begged God to protect her. The fallowing day, when nothing had happened, she went down town. In the town many people asked her who she had guarding her house. She was a poor woman, so she wouldn’t be able to afford any guards. The woman had no idea what the people in her town were talking about. It turned out that what the men had seen, was the woman’s house surrounded by angels with swords. They were all glowing and the men returned to their homes in fear. This woman had no idea how God was going to protect her. It is funny how God sometimes have a solution that we could never come up with ourselves.

I can be quite paranoid sometimes and whenever my boyfriend is at work, so I have to sleep alone, I am very scared that someone will break into our apartment. This story inspired me, so I asked God if he would put an angel in front of each of my doors to protect me during the night. Tonight I had the first night alone without nightmares and without laying awake for hours before being able to fall asleep. Of course you can question whether or not God really put angels in front of my doors. I can’t tell whether or not he did, though I am absolutely sure that he is able to. But what I do know is that he gave me the peace of mind that I needed to have a good night sleep.
I love the idea of God sending a worrier angel to protect me and I really want a tattoo of a warrior angel. I found this picture of an angel (not the girl underneath it – uuh which by the way is Jeanne d’arc). I wanted this tattoo beneath my right breast but the tattoo artist said that it would have to be really big if I wanted all the details. Such a shame, so I am now looking for a perhaps simpler drawing or picture. If you have one laying around or know where I might be able to find one, please leave a comment :) Thanks

Strøm

Yesterday I went to “Strøm” (electricity) in Enghave parken. Electronic festival – absolutely amazing! Especially Modeselektor from Germany. They made us dance a lot! This event was so awesome that it almost made up for not going to the Roskilde festival. Wish my friends had been there though but we’ll do that next year. There was very much of a festival vibe. The best thing that Modeselektor did was include a song by Björk and Antony. Can you imagine a better combo? And then mixed with their own electronic beats. Two of the guys stood up front with microphones and pretended that they were the ones singing. It was really warm too, even though summer’s almost over. It really made me appreciate living in Vesterbro!

A piece of Icelandic love

I totally forgot about this band but then I heard an interview with them on Swedish radio and now I would like to share it with you. The band is called Amiina and it’s four girls who play on different strange instruments such as the saw. I really like it, it’s a bit like Sigur Ròs which is pure love… So, here is one of their songs.

My wedding dress

Berlin is a great place to go to second hand shops and flee markets. We went to a Turkish market where I bought a lot of fabric to make summer dresses from. We also went to another flee market and I think I found my wedding dress! I didn’t buy it though but I have been thinking about my wedding dress lately and how I might want it to look but didn’t really have an idea. Not until I saw this dress though. It is not a huge princess dress filled with tulle but it is so sweet and romantic. I didn’t buy it, cause I’d want the fabric to be new, but I took a picture of it, so who know; I might get a dress maker to sew it for me some day…

The dress

I bought two dresses at a great second hand shop. It’s really big and called Colors. You pay by weight, just like when you go buy candy :) You will find it on Gneisenaustrasse where there are also a lot of antique stores.

btw. you're welcome to comment on the dress or my blog in general :)

oh, where to sleep?

It’s always good to do some research on where to stay and the prices, before you go on vacation. We also did that this time and City Stay sounded nice and affordable. Our friends stayed at the Wombat which we had also looked at but we had misunderstood the prices. Unfortunately! For 50 euro we got a room with two separate beds. Not the biggest problem, we could have just pushed them together… Then we shared baths and toilets with the rest of the people from our hall. That sucked when you had to go pee at night but it was bearable. The worst part was that the metal bed was so noisy! It made noises when you just sat down or turned around in it which didn’t really encourage for to much romance, if you know what I mean… So don’t stay at the City Stay.

The wombat however was awesome. At the same price, you get a nice room with your own toilet and shower and even a small terrace where you could sit an enjoy a drink and the wonderful view of Berlin. And yes, the bed was problem free, so now I know where to stay next time, The Wombat!

Both hotels/hostels were in a great area near Münzstrasse! Which I will write about later. The best area ever.

Last time we were in Berlin, we stayed at Alcatraz Backpacker hostel. It was very nice too and also in a good area near Kastanienalle. They even have a kitchen where you can cook your own food and it is just very hippie and cozy. That, I could also recommend.
